Ultraviolet Fluorescence and Infrared Spectrum Characteristic of "Traceless Repair" Treated Feicui (Jadeite Jade)

  • The "traceless repair" of Feicui (jadeite jade) is a new type of splicing technology, which uses adhesive substances to penetrate into the splicing surface in a vacuum and high pressure environment to achieve the effect of splicing and repair. The so-called "traceless" means that the splicing trace is almost invisible to the naked eye from the appearance. However, through conventional gemmological tests and infrared spectrum test, the splicing evidence can be found: the strong blue and white fluorescence at the splicing surface can be observed under ultraviolet fluorescence irradiation, and the absorption peaks of epoxy resin can be recognized by infrared spectrum. According to national standard GB/T 16552-2017 Gems-Nomenclature, this kind of "repaired" Feicui (jadeite jade) jewelry should be named as splicing jadeite jade.
