Spectroscopic Study on the Main Mineral of Dushan Yu from Henan Province, China and the Philippines

  • Dushan Yu from Luzon Island of the Philippines and Dushan Yu from Henan Province, China were analyzed by electron probe microanalysis, Raman spectroscopy and infrared spectroscopy. The EPMA results showed that the plagioclase in Dushan Yu from Henan Province, China, is continuous Na-Ca isomorphic series, while the plagioclase in Dushan Yu from the Philippines is mainly anorthite. The Dushan Yu from the Philippine is β- zoisite, while the Dushan Yu from China contain more α-zoisite. The major chemical compositions of diopside in Dushan Yu from the two origins are consistent. The testing results showed that the Raman absorption spectrum of Dushan Yu from Henan Province, China, is a mixture of many kinds of feldspars, while only the characteristic absorption peak of anorthite appears in Dushan Yu from the Philippines. The Raman peaks of zoisite and diopside in the samples from the two origins are consistent, however their shapes, peak sizes and positions are different. The testing results showed that the infrared spectrum of feldspar in Dushan Yu from the Philippines is consistent with the standard spectrum, while the infrared spectrum of Dushan Yu from Henan Province, China, has changed due to the isomorphism. The infrared spectrum peak of zoisite in Dushan Yu from Henan Province, China, is more in the range of 600-400 cm-1 than that in Dushan Yu from the Philippines, and the spectrum peak is more obvious. The vibration frequency of diopside in samples from two origins is the same in the range of 600-300 cm-1, but the infrared spectrum is slightly different in the range of 1 100-850 cm-1. Through the analysis of the main mineral components and spectral peak characteristics, a certain basis for the identification of Dushan Yu from Henan Province, China and the Philippines can be provided.
