Application of 4D Printing on Wearable Jewelry and Accessory

  • 4D printing is based on the development of 3D printing of smart materials, which could realize the change of shape, or performance or even functions of the final printed components. In recent years, it has been highly valued by scientists worldwide for its great innovations. The successive experimental research work has also achieved certain development, and the prospects in the field of wearable jewelries and accessories are infinite. This paper firstly introduced the concept of 4D printing, the classifications of smart materials and the comparison between 3D printing and 4D printing technologies. Then, it focused on the application in the field of wearable jewelries and accessories after analyzing and summarizing the research status and key research fields at home and abroad. It predicted that in the future 4D printing will be favored by more and more people for its great advantages of self-adaptation, self-adjustment and self-deformation, especially in the field of wearable jewelry and accessories, which will provide designers with more space of creativity and imagination.
