Surface Morphological Characteristic of Enamel

  • Due to some factors, the burnt enamel often has some defects on its surface. In this paper, the microscopic analysis method was used to analyze the surface morphological characteristics of burnt enamel in different process. The authors summarized some common surface defects of enamel after sintering, such as the incompletely melting surface, pits and orange peel surface, secondary crystallization, impurities, and the phenomenon of solid solution growing up. Finally, some reasonable ways were found to deal with the defects of the surface of enamel.(1)If the glaze is evenly spreading, the enamel bubbles can be avoided; (2)The size of the glaze particle should be uniform, which is helpful for the better enamel products; (3)The enamel is treated with constant temperature during the burning process, which can eliminate some of the surface defects; (4) The crystallized enamel is recommended to be cooled directly after burning.
