Application of Nuclear Radiation Technique in Gemmology

The application principles and methods are demonstrated of nuclear radiation technique in gemmology. Also discussed are characters and application of the nuclear radiation sources for the gem colour-enhancement process, and the mechanics and effect of the gem colour induced by radiation. The formation mechanism of electronic defect centre caused by radiation damage method is indicated and the appropriate experimental plan is provided for gem radiation colour-enhancement process.
