Gemmological Characteristics of Pink Jadeite Jade with White Ribbons

At present the pink jadeite jade with white ribbons is on sale in the market of Hongkong. The formation of the white ribbon and the colouration mechanism of the pink part are studied by using the polarizing microscope, electron microprobe, Raman spectrometer, infrared spectrometry and cathodoluminescence, etc. The results indicate that the formation of the white ribbon is caused by the shear stress to be cataclastic texture and the pink part of the jadeite jade is coloured by a very few of Mn and Fe.
