Features of Serpentined Marble from Qinglong, Qinhuangdao

  • A jade deposit is discovered at Qinglong county, Qinhuangdao, Hebei Province, and the jade is named Qinglong jade in the local. The deposit is investigated and sampled systematically in order to judge of it. The samples are tested and analysed by using polarized microscope, X-ray diffraction and X-ray fluorescence spectrscopy. The gemmological parameters are determined. The results show that the Qinglong jade is mainly composed of serpentined marble, similar to modern Lantian jade in both composition and texture. The jade is green, orange, red, yellow, purple, etc. The grains of the jade are very fine. The reserve of the deposit is estimated approximately based on the data obtained at the investigation. The reserve of the deposit is about 26. 5 to 53. 0million tons and favorable benefit can be made if the deposit is exploited.
