Bilingual Teaching Strategy Based on Questionnaire Survey of Student in Jewelry Major

  • The growing internationalization of the jewelry industry requires colleges and universities to cultivate students with more international vision.Needless to say, bilingual teaching is an important way to reach this target.In order to offer bilingual courses successfully, questionnaire surveys were conducted among students who are undergraduates and graduates in Gemmological Institute of China University of Geosciences (Wuhan) to find factors influencing bilingual teaching.Based on statistics and the author's own teaching experience, several strategies on bilingual teaching are summarized to guarantee good teaching effects:Encouraging students to cultivate their learning interest; Giving priority to improving students' oral communication ability; Teaching contents should be wide but basic; Choosing suitable time to teach; Strengthening teachers' abilities to teach bilingual courses; Adopting suitable teaching methods which focus on students; Teaching process and the ratio of using Chinese and English should match the students' cognitive ability; Selecting suitable evaluation methods.
