STUDY ON THE GEOLOGICAL CHARACTERISTICS AND GENESIS OF MEILING JADE

  • This paper introduces the geological characteristics of Meiling Jade deposit in Jiangshu Provice. Investigation in field and observation under microscope are made. The test methods of spectrum, electron microscope, X ray diffraction and electron probe analysis are adopted. The results show that Meiling Jade, which has varieties of White Jade, Black white Jade and Black Jade, is the nephrite jade of tremolite mineral group. The deposit of Meiling Jade has the characteristic of multi genetic origin. Meiling White Jade, Which is composed of tremolite mainly, was formed by metasomatism and metamorphism in contact zone. Meiling Black Jade, which consists of soda tremolite mainly, was formed by cooling following injection of "Jade pulp" under low pressure and high temperature.
