Gemmological Characteristics of One Kind of Fake Yellow Jadeite

Some yellow jadeite samples together with lots more fake ones were sent to our center for testing recently.It is very fraudulent because the fake ones look exactly the same as those yellow jadeite.In addition，some testing resluts of those fake samples are close to yellow jadeite.Therefore，after conventional gemmological tests，infrared spectroscopy and X－ray powder diffraction，the author finds that the fake samples are composed of zoisite and a little quartz.So，these samples should be named as zoisite jade.Therefore，the fake samples can be easily distinguished with the yellow jadeite by their granular structure，index of refraction 1.69(point measurement)and IR spectrum.
