Study on Transparency of Balin Stone and Shoushan Stone

It is found that the order index(OI), crystallinity indexes(HI and DHI) and the full width at half maximum(FWHM_(00l)) have the limitations when they are used to research the components of kaolinite-and-dickite-mixed phase samples by studying the FTIR and XRD spectrum characteristics of Balin stone and Shoushan stone samples.The order index and crystallinity indexes of the samples are calculated and the relationships between each and the transparency are studied.The results demonstrate that the transparency of Shoushan stone sample increases with the raise of the order index(calculated from FTIR data) and the crystallinity(calculated from XRD data), but no similar regularity exists for the Balin stone samples.
