Strategic Consideration about Jewelry Tourism Commodity in Hainan Province

Tourism is the pillar industry of Hainan Province, directly contributing 36% of Hainan Province's GDP in 2017.The jewelry tourism commodity is a featured component of the tourism industry and shoulders the heavy responsibility of promoting the sustainable development of the tourism industry and the jewelry industry in Hainan. Based on field and literature investigation, the authors concluded three main models and the current problems of the background and situation in the development of jewelry tourism commodity: Insufficiently close industrial development and local resources; the imperfect development of industrial cluster; the simplex variety of product; the lack of creativity and high-level talents.Based on the background of international tourism island and free trade port, the authors suggest that Hainan Province should focus more on the following aspects to promote sustainable development: (1) scientific planning for the jewelry tourism commodity to achieve long-term and sustainable development; (2) optimizing the structure of jewelry tourism commodity and strengthening the incentive for cultural and creative development of jewelry tourism commodity; (3) introducing high-level talents for industry development and enhancing the training of local jewelry technical and marketing talents; (4) strengthening the cultivation of jewelry tourism industry cluster and innovating the development mode of tourism industry.
