Price and Its Influence Factor of Meteorite in International Market: Data Analysis from Bonhams Auction House over the Past Decade

  • In order to analyze the price influence factors of meteorit in international market,we reviewed and analyzed the auction data of meteorite of Bonhams Auction House from Jan. 2005 to May 2015 as well as the published meteorite number from the Antarctic expedition, global falls, Oman and North Africa desert areas. Reasonable conclusion would be drawn only when the assessment of the market value of meteorites gets a comprehensive judgment.The result showed that the meteorite type and scarcity are the most important factors affecting the price of meteorites; as for the same type of meteorite, the price is affected by the appearance, cutting parts, meteorite weight, witness or not, collected or not. We can get the reliable market conclusion only through the comprehensive evaluation of the factors above.
