Gemmological Characteristic of Turquoise Imitation Gorceixite

Recently, a turquoise simulation product has been found in Yantai market, which is very similar with turquoise in appearance.The main body is white, and part of sample is blue to bluish voilet with dark brown net veins.The conventional gemmological test data of samples is quite different from that of qurquoise.In order to get the accurate name of the samples, gem microscope, UV-Vis spectroscopy, FTIR absorption spectroscopy and X-ray energy dispersive spectrometer (EDS) were used. The gemmological and mineralogical characteristics of the imitation sample has been investigated. The results showed that the turquoise imitation sample is gorceixite with wax dipping treatment.
