Study on Gemmological Characteristics of Idocrase Jade

摘要: 符山石玉,又名加州玉,是近年来出现在市场上的宝玉石新品种,其外观、相对密度及蓝区可见光吸收光谱与翡翠非常相似。利用电子探针、X射线衍射、红外光谱、拉曼光谱等现代测试手段,对符山石玉进行了常规宝石学测试,对其宝石学特征进行了研究。可依据符山石玉较高的折射率、结构特征和吸收光谱等将其与相似的翡翠、水钙铝榴石区分开。Abstract: A new jade——idocrase jade, also known as californite, is found in the market in China. It is similar to jadeite jade in the appearance, relative density and visible absorption spectrum. The gemmological characteristics are investigated systematically by using EMPA, X-ray powder diffraction, IR reflectance spectrum and laser Raman spectrum. The idocrase jade can be easily identified from jadeite jade and hydrogrossular by its higher refractive index, texture and 465 nm absorption spectrum.
