DISCOVERY AND INITIAL STUDY ON ILLITE JADE IN HUBEI PROVINCE

摘要: 伊利石玉产于湖北省大冶市某铜矿区内。玉石矿体呈脉状产出，系由斜长岩脉经热液蚀变而形成。玉石主要矿物为伊利石，含有少量透辉石、绿泥石。玉石呈浅灰绿色，由于赤铁矿化局部呈暗红色。玉石质地细腻，有滑感，油脂光泽，光泽度为72％，相对密度为2.79，摩氏硬度为3.32，是中低档玉石。

Abstract: Illite jade, in vein, was discovered in some copper mine, located in Daye County, Hubei Province, and is a rind hydrothermal alteration rock from anorthosite. The jade consists of illite and a little amount of diopside and chlorite, and it is light gray-green, with local deep red owing to hematitation, surface smooth, greasy luster, the degree of luster 72%, relative density 2.79, Mohs' hardness 3.32.
