Translation of Architectural Element of the Giant Wild Goose Pagoda and Its Innovative Application in Contemporary Jewelry Design

  • 摘要: 将传统建筑元素应用于现代首饰设计,是传承与活化文化遗产的重要路径。然而,目前的设计实践多停留于对装饰符号的浅层模仿,既缺乏对建筑核心结构体系的深度转译,也未能形成系统性的跨尺度转化方法。本研究以唐代建筑典范大雁塔为例,探索其建筑元素向当代首饰设计的创新转译路径,并构建一套兼具理论深度与实践价值的跨尺度转化框架。基于理论分析与设计实践相结合的方法,首先运用拓扑学解析大雁塔梁柱与斗拱的几何构成与力学逻辑,并借助符号学剖析其文化内涵与空间美学,最后构建了一个包含结构拓扑、符号语义与现象学体验3个维度的建筑至首饰多维映射模型。通过一系列首饰设计实践,将大雁塔的榫卯节点、斗拱出跳及层叠韵律等结构特征,转化为首饰中的微型承重框架、模块化组件与空间叙事语言。这种基于结构转译的设计方法不仅深化了首饰的文化承载与表现力,更推动了首饰工艺从装饰性表达向建构性表达的范式转型,为传统建筑文化在现代设计语境中的创新性传承,提供了系统的理论框架与实践参照。

     

    Abstract: Integrating traditional architectural elements into contemporary jewelry design serves as a vital pathway for inheriting and revitalizing cultural heritage. However, current practices often remain at a superficial level of imitating decorative symbols, lacking in-depth translation of core architectural structures and a systematic methodology for cross-scale transformation. Focusing on the Giant Wild Goose Pagoda, a paradigm of Tang Dynasty architecture, this study aims to explore innovative translation pathways from its architectural elements to contemporary jewelry design and to establish a theoretical framework for such cross-scale design transformation. Combining theoretical analysis with design practice, this study first employs topological analysis to deconstruct the geometric composition and mechanical logic of the pagoda's beam-column and dougong structure(a traditional Chinese bracket set), while utilizing semiotics to analyze their cultural connotations and spatial aesthetics. Based on this, a multi-dimensional mapping model between architecture and jewelry is constructed, encompassing 3 dimensions: structural topology, semiotic semantics, and phenomenological experience. Through a series of jewelry design practices, this study transforms the structural features of the Giant Wild Goose Pagoda—such as mortise-and-tenon joints, the projecting tiers of dougong structure, and layered rhythm—into micro-load-bearing frames, modular components, and spatial narratives in jewelry. This structure-based translation approach not only enhances the cultural depth and expressive capacity of jewelry but also promotes a paradigm shift in craftsmanship from decorative to constructive expression. This study provides a systematic theoretical framework and practical references for the innovative inheritance of traditional architectural culture in contemporary design contexts.
