高温高压处理无色Ⅱa型钻石的人工辐照与退火处理

Artificial Irradiation and Annealing Treatment of HPHT-Treated Colourless Type Ⅱa Diamond

  • 摘要: 钻石颜色是评价其品质的关键指标之一。褐色Ⅱa型钻石经高温高压(HPHT)处理后可转变为高色级(H— D级),从而显著提升其价值,该处理工艺的鉴定方法亟需公开。目前,通过检测高温不稳定缺陷中心,光谱学手段成为鉴别HPHT处理无色Ⅱa型钻石的主要方法。研究表明,GR1中心(741 nm)对此类钻石的鉴定具有重要意义,由于GR1中心可由天然辐照或人工辐照形成,因此确认其并非处理后二次辐照产物显得至关重要。本研究以HPHT处理的无色Ⅱa型钻石样品为研究对象,通过人工辐照和不同温度(800 ℃/900 ℃) 退火,结合紫外-可见光谱与光致发光光谱等测试手段分析样品经人工辐照与退火处理后的宝石学及光谱学特征。结果显示,GR1中心在区分天然和HPHT处理无色Ⅱa型钻石方面发挥着关键作用,通过检测GR1中心的存在与否以及其较窄的半高宽(FWHM≤0.60 nm, 532 nm激发光源下测量)可以有效鉴别两者。

     

    Abstract: The colour of diamond is an important quality parameter. Brown type Ⅱa diamonds can be upgraded to higher colour grades (D-H) through high pressure and high temperature (HPHT) treatment, significantly enhancing their commercial value. This treatment needs to be disclosed in the trade. Currently, spectroscopic techniques have become the primary method for detecting HPHT-treated colourless type Ⅱa diamonds by analyzing thermally unstable defect centers. The research demonstrates that the unstable GR1 center (741 nm) is of great significance in identifying this kind of treated diamonds. However, since GR1 center can be obtained by both natural and artificial irradiation, it is essential to verify its origin as non-treatment-related secondary irradiation products.In this study, HPHT-treated colourless type Ⅱa diamond sample was artificially irradiated and annealed at different temperatures (800℃/ 900℃), and its gemmological and spectroscopic characteristics after treatments above were studied using UV-Vis spectroscopy and photoluminescence spectroscopy. The results indicated that the GR1 center plays a pivotal role in the identification of natural and HPHT-treated colourless type Ⅱa diamonds.The presence or absence of GR1 center along with its relatively narrow full width at half maximum (FWHM≤0.60 nm, tested under 532 nm excitation) can distinguish natural and HPHT-treated colourless type Ⅱa diamonds.
