TEXTURE TYPES OF JADEIT JADE AND ITS GENETIC IMPLICATION

  • This paper discusses the definition and the texture types of jadeite jade. The texture is an important element of jadeite jade, which affects not only the varieties of jadeite jade, but,also the beauty,transparency and the finishing product of jadeite jade. The texture types of jadeite jade can be classified by the characteristic of the surface(gemmology feature), for example, grain size, grain shape and the relationship of inter-grain, etc. The texture of jadeite jade can be classified into three types according to their geological origin:(1) crystalloblastic texture,(2) replacement texture; (3) cataclastic texture. The three types reflect the three stages of metamorphism.
