  • Diamond faceting is an important processing procedure for precious metal jewelry,but in traditional operation,parts and tools are mainly operated manually,which requires workers with high operation technique and plenty of experiences.Besides,the output rate for production is lowered easily due to long working hours and fatigue of workers.The automatic diamond faceting system is total automatic diamond faceting process which applies the computer vision and controlling technology to the transformation of any design graphs into a sequence of actions.This paper introduces the basic operational principle,hardware structure,application functions and practical processing effect of automatic flat beads diamond faceting system developed entirely by Gemmological Institute,China University of Geosciences(Wuhan).Different from other faceting systems,this automatic system can show the facet position and height of flat beads accurately by using the computer vision technology.Therefore,it improves the operational accuracy and lower the demand of the size consistency of parts.
