  • Dark ribbons in ruby from Yunnan Province can be effectively eliminated by heat treatment. The influence of parti-colour can be reduced and the red hue is improved obviously. The result of EDXRF shows that Fe is separated out from the ruby during heat treatment. The test results of absorption spectrum show that the spectra of treated ruby are characterized by strengthening and blue shift of absorption band. Therefore, the red hue and saturation increase.
