  • There are many imitated nephrites in the jewelry market.Besides the familiar imitations,two new kinds of imitations appear in the jewelry market recently.The identification characteristics of nephrite and the two kinds of imitation samples are tested and compared by the conventional gemmological methods.However,the types of the two imitation samples are not identified accurately.The characteristics of infrared reflectance spectra of the two imitation samples are further tested and analysed and compared with the standard infrared spectrum for gems.The results show that the two imitations are made of gypsum and wollastonite respectively.
