  • After thirty years of rapid development, modern jewelry education in China, from scratch, from small scale to large scale, from short-term training to higher education, has basically completed the construction of cross disciplinary education system.Meanwhile, from the concept of education, such as educational theories, teaching methods and other subject fields, a number of successful cases are worth reviewing.Especially, contemporary jewelry education integrates traditional Chinese culture and combines modern eastern and western jewelry culture, which is of great significance to promote contemporary Chinese jewelry culture progress and industrial development.Recording the history makes us do not forget the hardships and bear the historical merits of the blazers in mind.Recalling the history helps us to understand the laws of education in order to play the social function of education.Reviewing the history helps us focus on the future, seize the opportunity and face challenges.This paper is about the three decades of develop history in Chinese jewelry education and the research clue is the chronology of development history.The iconic events in the jewelry education development history are basic for the study.By adopting multi-listening and witness about the events, combining with literature and textual researches of events, the paper strives to restore the true history of Chinese jewelry education over the past thirty years.On this basis, the article reviews the Chinese jewelry education through the course of thirty years, and sums up three main stages of development.First is pioneering stage when social force from different fields worked together.Second is developing period when institutions undertake the educational function.Third is mature stage when professional disciplines constructed.And the paper discusses in detail about the various stages of the cultural background, occurrence environment, organizational participations, and important achievements.At the same time, on the each stage of talent demands, training mode, teaching content and organization forms, the author undertakes concrete analyses.At end of the article, when entering the developing period of Chinese jewelry education, the author makes concrete elaboration on facing five challenges.Firstly, updating the concept of culture is important, such as understanding cultural context and needs, grasping the developing direction of jewelry culture.Secondly, in terms of ideas and methods in education, it is necessary to explore creative thinking education to change previous cognitive thinking education and cultivate innovative thinking ability.Thirdly, as for innovation and progress in science and technology, the latest technology should be used to support cultural innovation, promote technological progress and drive the industry to upgrade.Fourthly, in regard to the protection of cultural heritage, we should learn the traditional art, inherit the traditional process and save the historical and cultural relics.Fifthly, to enhance the national craft civilization, we should be fully aware that craft culture is an important guarantee to maintain the progress of science, technology and social balanced development.It is not only an important benchmark of national industrial civilization for upgrading, but also the important means of sustainable development of the jewelry industry. Therefore, attention should be paid to carry forward craft culture and develop jewelry industry with the help of craft culture.
