  • A kind of imitated chicken-blood stone is studied by XRF, XRD, FTIR and polarizing microscope in this paper.The gemmological characters, mineral components, structure and synthetic methods of the sample are investigated.The results show that the imitated chicken-blood stone is mainly composed of sheridanite and a bit of quartz.And the red part which is conformed to be a kind of gules organic pigment by FTIR is not resulted by some other mineral but also sheridanite.On the basis of the components and the structure of the imitation, it is affirmed that the sample is made up of the triturated sheridanite and mixed with the organic pigment, then solidified through compressing.
