  • Recently,some imitated sugilite products appear in the Beijing jewelry market.The gemmological,mineralogical and spectral characteristics of the imitated sugilite samples are studied by using the gem microscope,polarizing microscope,electron microprobe(EMP),X-ray powder differaction(XRD) and Fourier transform infrared spectrometer(FTIR).The results show that the imitated sugilite samples are mainly composed of tremolite and quatz with dyeing.The identification characteristics between the imitated sugilite and natural sugilite are that the imitated sugilite is of higher density,rougher surface and characteristic infrared spectra.
