  • The jade from South Korea is a new kind of product in the present market.The typical samples from South Korea are studied by using the conventional gemmological methods, polarizing microscope, IR and XRD.The results show that the main mineral component of the sample from South Korea is tremolite, and the gemmological characteristics as well as IR spectrum are consistent with that of the nephrite.According to the present national standards, the jade from South Korea should be named "nephrite" or "Hetian jade".The results of the other tests could be references for the locality identification of the nephrite from South Korea.
