Abstract
A celadon jadeite jade sample from Guatemala is studied by using the conventional gemmological methods, rock-mine identify, XRF, XRD and IR.The results show that the chemical compositions of the sample are similar to that of jadeite. The main mineral component is jadeite, including a few albite, muscovite, paragonite and a small amount of zoisite, phlogopite, sphene and analcime. The structure of the sample is mainly column-like crystalloblastic, granoblastic and coarse granoblastic textures. At the range of 1 000~1 100 cm-1, the result of Al replaced by Ca and Mg with other impurity elements leads to the infrared spectrum at 1 071 cm-1 caused by the antisymmetric stretch vibration of vas (Si-O-Si), which has the obvious drift when compared with that of the jadeite jade from Myanmar.
