Abstract
Crystal orientation plays an important role in gemstone cutting. The orientation of crystal tested by FTIR spectroscopy and Raman spectroscopy could be used as supporting evidences to judge the traditional crystallography orientation. In this paper, the authors collected and tested the oriented infrared spectrum, Raman spectrum of 9 sections of enstatites, in order to explore the function of FTIR and Raman scattering in oriented spectroscopy. Finally, the results showed that both the shape, intensity and location of IR spectrum with OH bands at 3 400~3 600 cm-1, and the shape, intensity, number of bands, fluorescent background of Raman spectrum at 1 009~1 020 cm-1, could be used to give an orientation of single enstatite crystal.
