  • The horn hairpin cultural relic made of animal horn unearthed from the Chu tomb in Yancang, Jingmen, Hubei Province has important research, ornamental, and historical cultural value. It provids valuable physical data for the study of the historical culture of the region. However, due to the unsuitable preservation environment and conditions after its excavation and severe fractures on the surface, the exquisite patterns on its surface are difficult to recognize, and it has been endangered. In order to better restore and repair this exquisite cultural relic, virtual repair is performed before physical repair. On the premise of not touching the cultural relic, Photoshop technology can improve the appearance, decoration, carving patterns and other display details of the artifacts to a greatest extent. The virtual restoration process includes cleaning and mold removal, bonding, correction, matching, paint film pasting, painting, etc. Finally, the virtual restoration display effect diagram of this horn hairpin cultural relic is obtained which lays a good preliminary reference foundation for the physical restoration of the artifacts.
