Abstract
Mineral crystal collection have approached to the scene view of peoples gradually. The price of mineral crystal increases alone with its popularity. Locality of mineral crystal is an important factor of its value. However, there is few systematic study of output features of mineral crystals and geographical classification system which can guide practical operation. Fengjiashan and Tonglushan district are metallurgical centers of Hubei Province which produce copper, iron, gold and grammite. Besides these industrial-used ore, they also produce collection-used mineral crystal like hubeite, inesite, apophylllite, quarts and calcite. This paper makes a contrast between samples from Fengjiashan and Tonglushan district and other typical origins, summarizes the crystal habit and mineral assemblages of mineral crystal from Fengjiashan and Tonglushan."Hubei stone" only yielded in Fengjiashan. It presents dark brown to faint brown colour and tiny triclinic wedge-shaped crystal. Its crystal druse shaped like flower or globe. "Hubei stone" commonly intergrow with calcite and quartz. Another typical mineral of this locality is inesite. Inesite from Fengjiashan presents orange-red or red colour and transparency. Single crystals always gather as global or fiber-shaped cluster. Apophylllite from Fengjiashan is usually faint yellow and poorly transparent. its crystal occurs generally as tetragonal prism tabular. There are commonly chlorite and hematite inclusion in calcite from Tonglushan. Calcite from this district always present strong red fluorescence in long wave UV light. This calcite can occurs contact twin.Origin recognition according to output features is the most practical way in the trade and collection and this paper can provide reference for Daye mineral crystal collection.
