  • Tourmaline filled by organics can be identified by magnification and FTIR techniques, but there are still some problems on its accuracy and visibility. In this paper, the DiamondViewTM observation technique is firstly applied to the study on the tourmaline samples filled by organics. It is found that tourmaline samples displays green or blue fluorescence when irradiated by ultraviolet fluorescence lamp with wavelength shorter than 230 nm in DiamondViewTM while those filling materials show different ultraviolet fluorescent features. And it is easy to identify the position and distribution of filling materials quickly. In addition, growth structures and other internal facts are observed in some samples under DiamondViewTM.DiamondViewTM not only offsets the deficiency of traditional test methods, but also provides possibilities to research on growth structure, position as well as identification of synthetics. And it can tell researchers to what degree tourmaline could be filled.
