Study on Colouration Mechanism of Emerald from Yunnan Province

The colouration mechanism of emerald from Yunnan Province is studied by analyzing chemical compositions and absorption spectroscopy. It is considered that the colour of emerald from Yunnan Province is produced by V³⁺, Cr³⁺ and Fe³⁺. Its green or yellowish-green is related to the high content of V³⁺ and Fe³⁺.
