The Development Course of Korean Modern Art Jewelry

  • In the early 1970s, art jewelry was introduced into South Korea. After nearly half a century of development, Korean art jewelry has developed into a relatively mature form, and gradually formed the characteristics of simple, fresh and high recognition. Taking the development history of Korean art jewelry in the past 50 years as the research object, through listening to the narration of the witnesses, combined with the review of the historical materials and investigations and interviews of major jewelry artists in various historical periods, this study strives to objectively and truly show the development course of Korean modern art jewelry. On this basis, the development course is divided into five stages: germination period, exploration period, specialization period, innovation period and outbreak period, and the historical background, main characteristics, important achievements and representative figures of each stage are discussed. In addition, the two major problems of Korean art jewelry are pointed: serious disconnection from reality and the small domestic market in South Korea. Finally, two basic revelations are summarized and the suggestions for China's jewelry education and industry development are put forward.
