经多工序Be,Ti元素扩散处理的两粒蓝宝石的宝石学特征

Two Pieces of Sapphires Treated by Be and Ti Multiple Diffusion

  • 摘要: 在对22粒蓝宝石进行Be扩散检测时,意外发现2粒经Be、Ti元素扩散处理的蓝宝石。通过浸油显微观察可见宝石近底尖部位颜色在棱线处富集,这是Ti扩散处理的典型特征。激光烧蚀电感耦合等离子质谱分析发现2粒样品中Be的浓度分别为23,14ppma,由此判断两粒样品均经过了Be扩散处理。由于刚玉中Be扩散处理是在氧化氛围下进行,而Ti扩散处理在还原氛围下进行,笔者探讨了可能的处理过程。结果认为,氧化还原氛围的更换,使两种元素扩散到宝石需要多重加热,两种元素扩散处理的目的是掩盖宝石扩散处理的鉴定证据,特别是使得Be扩散处理后的常规宝石学特征缺失。作为检测机构或者流通领域而言,只要声明经“扩散处理”即可尽到明示义务,无须进行元素类型探究。

     

    Abstract: The laboratory of the Gold and Diamond Testing Center of China(NGDTC)encountered two pieces of Be and Ti diffused sapphires.When the facet junctions near the culets of two stones are observed in immersion,colour appears darker,which means two stones have been diffused by Ti element.Chemical analysis by the laser ablation inductively coupled plasma mass(LA-ICP-MS)shows the Be concentrations are 23,14ppma respectively in the surface layers of two stones,which indicates they have been also diffused by Be element.As we all know,Be diffusion of corundum must always be carried out in a highly oxidizing atmosphere,but Ti diffusion process should undergo in a reducing atmosphere.Considering the possible course,the authors believe that the stones have been heated through multiple procedures,which makes it hard to identify the diffusion because common evidence of Be diffusion has been deleted.As advisable disclose,it is enough to state that the stone is dif-fused.The trade does not need to focus too much on the roles of Be and/or Ti in these stones when they are in market.
