Abstract: The significance of ascertaining the value types of jewelry in criminal cases concerning jewelry appraisal as well as certain problems are brought about and discussed in this paper,taking the jewelry appraisal case for example from the judicial organ in the Gems Testing & Appraisal Center,Sun Yat-Sen University.The authors consider that there ought to have the more strict specification or guidance to the correspondence between the appraisal purposes and value types in the price authentication or appraisal.The discordance will make crucial impact on the work between the laws and regulations about price authentication together with the technical criteria and the theoretical methods of asset(including jewelry asset) appraisal,and will probably cause the new disputes at law unless certain precise statutes are molded for standardization and restriction.
