Abstract: Jade culture has a long history in China.It has lasted for thousands and hundreds of years and it is still alive now.At the beginning of the formation of Chinese civilization，it has been attached great significance to jade.Design of jade ornaments was inherited and developed with time change.Changes of human society，ideology and culture make design of jade ornaments transfer from “God designed”in primitive society to the“human design”in modern society.Modern“human design”reflects people－oriented design concept.This concept requires pendant designers to take adequate account of similarities and personalities of“people”，reflects external beauty and cultural connotation and makes design of jade ornaments reach harmony in terms of people with object，people with society and people with nature.The concept of“people－oriented”has different appearances at different periods of time.The authors discussed design concept of people－oriented in modern society，such as“concerning with the needs of the aging people”“showing the feminine charm”“remembering the past youth”“being involved to the natural beauty”“using of modern technology”，to make design concept keep pace with modern society.It is hoped to enrich cultural connotation of jade，inspire design thought of jade ornaments and broaden consumers of jade ornaments.
