Abstract:
The assimilation of computers into art jewelry in 21st century is a phenomenon. This paper introduced digital technology applied in contemporary jewelry, as well as the distinct approaches by different artists. The digital technologies employed by jewelry artists can be divided into two types:Two dimensional and three dimensional. The former type application involves 2D CAD (Computer Aided Design) and digital imaging combined with laser cutting/etching and enamel photo transfer. The latter type includes 3D modeling and 3D scans associated with 3D printing. The case study shows that digital technologies have redefined "craft" by connecting the traditional and the future.
