Abstract: As a contemporary jade carving creator，the author learned some experiences in the practice that there is relationship between the two different themes of jade carving such as flower-and-bird and Maitreya.By analyzing the creative practice and the ancient works of the same theme，the author finds out relationship between jade carving of flower-and-bird and Maitreya to realize harmony of two kinds of jade theme creation in artistic style and aesthetic pursuit.This paper talks about the rationality of the jade carving creation of courtyard flower-and-bird and Maitreya，and recalls the development of context behind the ancient courtyard flower-and-bird and Maitreya statue.It also illustrates the dialectical relationship beteween emotion and reason，the elegant and vulgar of jade carving creation of courtyard flower-and-bird and Maitreya according to cultural background.The jade carving of courtyard flower-and-bird and Maitreya can be unified under the idea of zen，which can provide a theoretical basis for jade carving creation on the realization of the unity of artistic style in two different themes.
