Abstract:
Recently,a kind of "new-type" wax-permeated jadeite appeared on jadeite market. With no destroy of structure,it is difficult to distinguish from natural jadeite by the naked eye. However, abnormal phenomena emerge when those "new-type" jadeites are tested under an ultraviolet fluorescence lamp and by FTIR.So,it is a big challenge for laboratory identification and sales market to single them out.On the basis of the experimental study of the "new type" wax-permeated jadeite samples, the authors collected and tested 30 samples by using the conventional gemmological testing, magnification observation, and spectroscopy tests. It was found that the colour and structure of the samples are not basically destroyed, but bluish white fluorescence appears under ultraviolet fluorescence lamp and DiamondView
TM,and strong infrared absorption peaks are at 2 850,2 920,2 956 cm
-1.Based on "GB/T 16553-2010 Gems-Testing",those "new type" wax-permeated jadeite samples should be named jadeite.
