GEMMOLOGICAL RESEARCH ON GUILIN HYDROTHEMAL SYNTHETIC RUBY AND SAPPHIRE

  • 摘要: 桂林水热法合成红宝石带有橙色色调, 具有与天然红宝石及橙红色蓝宝石不同的吸收光谱, 由Cr3+,Mn3+,Ni3+等过渡离子致色;浅黄色合成蓝宝石由 Ni3+致色, 与天然黄色蓝宝石的吸收光谱特征不同;最具普遍意义的鉴定特征是种晶片残余、呈面状分布的尘埃状包裹体以及缺少明显的生长纹理和含水的红外吸收光谱。
    Abstract: Guilin hydrothermal synthetic ruby and sapphire are a new product after the marketing of Tairus hydrothermal synthetic ruby and sapphire. Studies reveal the following characters: Guilin hydrothermal synthetic ruby has the colour of orange and the absorption spectrum which is different from that of the natural ruby and orange-red sapphire(Pad), with its colour being caused by such transitional ions as Cr 3+, Mn 3+ and Ni 3+; light yellow synthetic sapphire has its colour caused by Ni 3+ and its absorption spectrum differs from that of the natural yellow sapphire; the most universal characteristics for identification are the residual of the seed crystal, dust-like inclusions distributing as planar, and the lack of apparent growth lamination and hydrous infrared absorption spectrum.
