Abstract:
In this paper,the jade compositions of thirteen archaic jade artifacts excavated from the Eastern Zhou Tomb in Jing'an,Jiangxi Province were,in terms of gemmology,petrology and physical spectroscopy,identified by means of naked-eye observation,gemmological microscope,IR spectrometer,laser Rarnan microspectrometer,XRD and SEM.This research is a project designated by Archaeological Institute of Jiangxi Province.The eleven atchaic jade artifacts are composed largely of tremolite-nephrite,but the remaining two,of tiny sandstone.In addition,this paper also reveals the relationship between the surface characteristics and the compositions and structures of these eleven tremolite-nephrite archaic jade artifacts.
