Identification Characteristics of Emeralds Filled by ExCel

  • 摘要: 祖母绿多裂,几个世纪以来人们通过浸油、充填等方式来掩盖祖母绿裂隙,减少加工风险。随着对充填物认识的深入和各种充填物的广泛使用,人们开始更多地关注怎样的充填物才是好的充填物。ExCel是目前国际上被认为用于充填祖母绿裂隙最好的材料,选取了6件祖母绿样品进行了ExCel充填处理实验,通过放大观察、红外光谱、荧光特征等手段对ExCel充填前后样品进行了测试分析,旨在通过ExCel充填实验对祖母绿的充填方法有更加深入的认识并掌握充填物ExCel的实验室鉴定特征。研究表明,红外光谱在3 000~3 100cm-1处环氧树脂的特征吸收峰及2 930cm-1处的宽吸收锋结合特殊的荧光特征可作为ExCel充填祖母绿的主要鉴定依据。

     

    Abstract: Emerald often appears with fissures and people have been trying to cover and hide the fissures by oiling and fillings,as well as reducing the risks of processing.As the increasing and wide use of fillings for emerald clarity enhancement,people started to research a better filling material.In this paper,six emerald samples were chosen to be filled by ExCel,which is currently acknowledged as the best filling in global emerald trade.Magnification,infrared spectroscopy analysis,fluorescence characteristics and other identification tests were carried out and these samples were analyzed before and after filling process by ExCel.The contrast experiment aims to gain a deeper understanding about the filling method of emeralds and the laboratory identification characteristics of emeralds filled by ExCel.During this study,the infrared spectra show characteristic peaks of epoxy resin at 3 000-3 100cm-1,and a broad absorption peak at 2 930cm-1.Along with the special fluorescence characteristics,the infrared spectrum could be the main identification evidence for emeralds filled by ExCel.
