Identification of A Tourmaline with High Refractive Index

摘要: 宝石级电气石的折射率No为1.635~1.663,Ne为1.610~1.630,高于此值的宝石级电气石较少见。对一粒折射率值为1.640~1.672的电气石进行了系统研究,证实了铁质量分数高是导致电气石折射率值高的原因。Abstract: The refractive index of gem-quality tourmaline is usually 1.635~1.663 (N o) and 1.610~1.630 (N e), and the tourmaline whose refractive index is larger than 1.663 (N o) and 1.630 (N e) is rarely seen in market. In this paper, a tourmaline, whose refractive index is 1.640~1.672, has been studied to prove that the high content of iron is the cause of its high refractive index.
