Abstract:
Gold and silver inlay technology (Jin Yin Cuo) has a very long history in China. Started from the Shang Dynasty, the use of gold and silver inlay technology has appeared on bronzes, and through continuous development and change, this technique has been gradually perfected. Gold and silver inlay technology on jade carving is the treasure of the Chinese nation, gold and silver inlay technology inlaid with gemstones on jade mostly uses white jade, green and white jade, jasper, nephrite, crystals and other raw materials. The performance of the pattern and the inlaid items constitute a gorgeous and complex ornamentation. The polished gold and silver exude a satin-like luster, complemented by brilliant coloured gems and warm, atmospheric Hetian Yu. The body colours of white jade, green and white jade are elegant and dignified, with colourful rubies, sapphires and gold wire and other materials, the green jade and jasper present the style of elegancy and noble. Although the development of gold and silver inlay technology is not prosperous, it still ables to provide the current design a lot of inspirations. In this paper, the history of the development of gold and silver inlay technology is explored, its process is elaborated in detail, and the development of the technology is prospected, hoping to further promote its development and application.
