Abstract:
At present, there is a kind of jade from Philippines appeared in the market whose components are basically the same as the Dushan Yu from Henan Province, China. The colours of the jade are white, pink, green, black, etc. The basic characteristics of the Dushan Yu from China and Philippines were compared and analyzed by conventional gemmological test, and the microscopic characteristics and structure were analyzed by polarizing microscope. The result shows that both the samples from Henan Province, China and Philippines have the bright glass luster to glass luster and translucent to opaque transparency. Most of the samples have red fluorescence, but the fluorescence is stronger in Philippines samples. The refractive index of the samples from Henan Province, China, is 1.55-1.71, and the density is 2.822-3.277, while the refractive index of the samples from Philippines is 1.54-1.58, and the density is 2.663-2.927.The samples from Henan Province, China are mainly granular metamorphism with relatively small grain size, and most of the minerals are metasomatism. The samples from Philippines are mainly porphyritic metamorphism with relatively large grain size and the minerals are relatively fresh. The major mineral is plagioclase in both samples, but there are some differences in trace minerals. Samples from both origins contain epidote, chromite and sphene, but the trace minerals in samples from Philippines are mainly green uvarovite garnet, while the samples from Henan Province, China, are more abundant in actinolite and quartz.
