西周“衔尾龙”形玉器图像解读

Philosophical Sense of “Tail-Biting Dragon” Jade from Western Zhou Dynasty

  • 摘要: 古人对图腾的崇拜,往往寄托着人类对自然和生命最朴素的思考和敬畏,而正是人性上的共同点,使我们经常发现不同古文明的图腾和遗迹具有高度的相似性,甚至是一致性。本文基于湖北随州叶家山的西周早期曾国M111墓和M107墓出土的“衔尾龙”形玉器特征,对比中国历史上和世界上类似的考古发现,探讨人们对“衔尾龙”或“衔尾蛇”崇拜的历史原因,以及现代物理学在认识宇宙和时间的过程中,以“衔尾蛇”作为一种形象的比喻的背后所蕴含的哲学意义。笔者认为,无论是东方的“衔尾龙”还是西方的“衔尾蛇”符号,它们都在表达先民们对生与死的辨证与统一等深刻哲学问题最原始的思考和探索。

     

    Abstract: The totemism of ancestor usually expresses their naive thinking and yearning for nature and life. It is because of the commonalities of humanity, we can often find that totems and relics from different civilizations show high similarity, even consistency. Based on the recent unearthed "Tail-biting dragon" jade from M111 and M107, Zeng Tombs, early Western Zhou Dynasty, Yejiashan, Suizhou, Hubei Province, China, this study compared the similar archaeological discoveries in Chinese history and the world, and aimed to investigate the historical reason of "Ouroboros" or "Tail-biting dragon's worship". Besides, the philosophical sense why modern physics take "Ouroboros" as a vivid metaphor when exploring the universe and time was also discussed. We believed that whatever the symbol of eastern "Tail-biting dragon" or western "Ouroboros", they both convey the naive thinking and exploration for the dialectic and uniform of life and death, which involves in a series of profound philosophical questions.
