Abstract:
It is a challenge for accurately identifying Zachery electrolytic treated turquoise. In order to solve the problem, conventional gemmological test, Raman spectra, EDXRF, magnified observation, porosity and comparative studies of Zachery electrolytic treated turquoise and natural turquoise were tested and studied. The result showed that: (1) the porosity of Zachery electrolytic treated turquoise is small; (2) In the small focus X-ray fluorescence spectrometer tests, the content of K elements in Zachery turquoise is high.(3) Electrolytic treatment depth varies from 0.2 mm to the interior of the Zachery tarquoise sample, and its colour is related with content of K.Combined with the data, the Zachery electrolytic treated turquoise can be identified from natural turquoise according to microscope observation and X-ray fluorescence spectra.
