Abstract:
This paper analyzed the oxygen content in black amber from Myanmar with the Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR))and scanning electron microscope energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy(SEM-EDS) testing. The results showed that the relative intensity of FTIR peaks of oxygen containing groups (at 1 722,1 228,1 158,1 031 cm
-1) cross the core zone to the transition zone to near surface area increase unevenly. With the oxygen content rising, the colour changes from yellow to brown to dark brown, and the specific gravity largens, and on the contrary the fluorescence fades away.
