Gemmological Study On Sr-rich Aragonite Jade from Lanping, Yunnan Province

This mineral is found in Lanping, Yunnan Province. Its appearance is similar to hemimorphite very much. Detailed examinations of X-ray diffraction and EPMA indicate that this mineral is a special kind of aragonite. Its gemmological property and comparison with hemimorphite have also been studied. In addition, the possibility for this aragonite material to be use of jade is discussed.
