Development Trend of the Jewelry Industry in the New Era and the Cultivation of Innovative Talent

  • China has entered into the team of innovative countries, and the jewelry industry in the new era is undergoing significant changes, requiring continuous innovation, transformation, and upgrading. Currently, there is an urgent need for more innovative jewelry talents. Based on the analysis of measures for cultivating innovative talents in relevant universities, combined with the characteristics of the jewelry industry, the basic elements of jewelry innovative talents are pointed out, and four innovative jewelry talent cultivation directions are proposed, namely academic innovation talents, commercial management talents, craftsmen of the nation, and commercial entrepreneurs. In order to cultivate innovative talents characterized by high-quality, application and interdiscipline, who can adapt to and lead the development of the modern jewelry industry, explore and strengthen the construction of new engineering disciplines in universities, promote the integration of new engineering and new liberal arts, and contribute to healthy development of the jewelry industry with good jewelry education, and based on the analysis of employment data of undergraduate students in the Gemmological Institute of China University of Geosciences (Wuhan) in the past five years, this study proposed four pathways to cultivate innovative talents, namely deepening education and teaching, strengthening ideological and political education, improving the evaluation system, and promoting integration of industry and education.
